3 Cooling Stocks to Watch as Europe’s Fourth Heatwave Hits

Cooling stocks are splitting as Britain enters its fourth heatwave of the summer and wildfires burn across southern Europe.

Institutions are buying two of them and quietly leaving the third. BeInCrypto tracked money flow across three suppliers, and the split has less to do with weather than with data centers.

Carrier Global (NYSE: CARR)

Carrier owns Viessmann, one of Germany’s leading heat pump makers. Therefore, a European heatwave should be driving the shares of this cooling stock. But then, its buyers are pricing in a second market too.

Both are growing at once. Britain faces a fourth heatwave with 35 degrees Celsius forecast, while extreme heat has displaced more than 300,000 people, and the same conditions raise the cost of keeping data centers cool.

Carrier trades at $69.33 and is up 31.21% this year, yet it has fallen about 6% over the past month.

Money flow disagrees with that drop. Chaikin Money Flow, or CMF, which acts as a proxy for institutional buying, has risen steadily since July 14, while prices have dipped. This means that the large investors bought the weakness.

Meanwhile, the key catalyst landed on July 23, when Carrier acquired smart-sensor firm 75F and folded its AI automation into a thermal management suite built for data center cooling.

Retail investors have not followed cleanly yet. The Money Flow Index, or MFI, a retail proxy, sits at 41.81 and must clear 43.89 to show retail joining in with force.

Analysts still rate it a moderate buy, and the $77.40 average target sits above the price, as does Bernstein’s July 17 hold at $75.

Carrier reports before Tuesday’s open with consensus at just 83 cents of earnings, down 9.8% from a year earlier.

Clearing that lowered bar may not be enough, since Intel beat this month and still sold off. For the rebound to hold, CMF must reclaim zero.

IMI plc (LON: IMI)

IMI plc supplies valves and controls for building climate systems and data center cooling loops. London listed and the only non-US name here, it is the indirect way to own this theme.

Shares trade at 2,972 pence, up 19.21% this year. Almost none of that came recently, with the stock adding just 1.44% over the past month.

CMF explains the stall. It reads 0.09 after peaking near 0.45 in mid-January, and it has printed lower highs inside a falling channel since. Institutions still buy, but they commit less on every rally.

Europe’s heat pump market is the drag. Sales grew 11% across 16 countries in 2025 but fell in France, the largest market. Rising energy costs could reverse that, since Brent crude climbed above $100 this month and makes gas heating dearer.

Retail has gone the other way, buying the heatwave headline. MFI has surged to 88.92 and is pressing 90.24, and any reading above 80 counts as overbought.

Ownership makes the gap dangerous. Institutions hold about 92.7% of IMI against 5.93% for the general public, so the fading bid is the one that sets the price, the institutions.

Three analysts rate it a moderate buy, though the 3,176 pence average implies just 7% upside, the least of the three.

RBC’s hold sits at 2,850 pence, below today’s price. Reclaiming 0.29 on CMF would signal institutions are returning and could help validate the Jefferies and JPMorgan calls.

Vertiv Holdings (NYSE: VRT)

Vertiv builds the power and liquid cooling systems that stop AI server racks overheating, and hotter summers make that job harder. Its European arm is shrinking anyway, which makes it the odd name in this list of cooling stocks to watch.

Sales across Europe, the Middle East and Africa fell 29% organically last quarter after weak mid-2025 orders. Management guided to a second-half recovery. The Americas delivered $1.81 billion, close to 70% of group sales, up 44%.

Investors punished the European weakness. At $287.60 the stock has fallen 23.99% since June 22.

Yet CMF has just pushed above the zero line, its first positive reading in weeks. This means that the big money might now be taking the management’s word for a better Q2, at least in the affected regions.

MFI is still sliding at 34.72. Institutions are taking early positions while retail keeps selling, the exact reverse of IMI.

Index demand explains part of that. Vertiv joined the S&P 500 in March, so tracker funds are still buying.

Recent contracts support that read. Vertiv supplied cooling for a Nvidia GB300 deployment with racks up to 142 kilowatts.

Analysts are the most bullish here, with 12 buys and two holds. Their average target of $391 implies 35.95% upside, and KeyBanc opened at $360 on July 23.

RBC trimmed from $435 to $418 on July 16 while keeping a buy, consistent with the European drag.

Vertiv reports Wednesday, hours after the Federal Reserve decides on rates.

Holding CMF above zero confirms the rebound, while slipping below reopens the June lows for this analyst-favored cooling stock.
